HOUSE OF RAGAZZI RACISCI
IN LOVING MEMORY OF SANTINA ZANI
The Racisci House is in full scholastic activity, we have 34 children who follow various professional training courses (some outside the Comboni Samaritans center) others directly in the center. The boys and girls arrive at the center in the morning and follow school lessons, as well as lunch in the community and in the afternoon they are engaged in various creative activities. Each of them has an extremely dramatic story, the first days they were welcomed by medical and psychological staff. Thanks to TO GET THERE we take care of cost management expenses such as: daily expenses for meals, basic necessities and healthcare assistance such as vaccines The teachers’ expenses are entirely supported by TO GET THERE.
UPDATES
POPE FRANCIS MEETS VOLUNTEERS OF TO GET THERE
TO GET THERE recently carried out the renovation of the HEALTH CENTER dedicated to Pope Francis, the Center sees the participation of the Gemelli Catholic University of Rome and the Comboni Samaritans of Gulu.
For this occasion, and in recognition of the activities carried out, Pope Francis – on Saturday 4 March – received the group of volunteers in private audience with the President Massimo Leonardelli and the Ambassador Piero Piazzi, blessing the new structure that will bear his name.
WHO ARE WE?
After having collaborated for many years with international non-profit organizations, holding positions of great responsibility and with the firm intention of continuing to help those most in need, especially children, Massimo Leonardelli and Piero Piazzi have decided to found a new non-profit organization: TO GET THERE.
This decision, with the support of the staff that has been following the two founders for years, was born to give impetus to the realization of new projects in that part of Africa where living conditions are difficult if not, at times, dramatic.
Uganda is the nation, more precisely in the Gulu region, in which we operate mainly, we started collaboration with the Rainbow Center in South Sudan this year.
OUR MISSION
Many beautiful children we support suffer from serious diseases: HIV, viral pneumonia, Mediterranean anemia etc. The precarious health conditions prevent them from attending school and many of these children, given the extreme poverty in which they live, are often subjected to enormous efforts to provide food and water for the whole family, having parents or grandparents who are sick.
Our non-profit organization provides not only health care, but also psychological support, as well as aid for school expenses, food and primary goods for the protection of children.
FOUNDERS
As an Ambassador, Piero Piazzi works in strong synergy with all the volunteers of TO GET THERE so that the concrete commitment of all the people involved can guarantee much more sustainable living conditions and give children the hope of a better future.
Massimo Leonardelli, president of the non-profit organization, with more than ten years of experience in this field, is confident and certain of the participation of his old friends and of those who will come to support us in the implementation of new programs and projects.
VOLUNTEERS
TO GET THERE avails itself both in Italy and in Uganda of the help of volunteers and the support of the trainees of the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, followed by Dr. Antonella Cingolani, who periodically go to Uganda for the continuous monitoring of patients, for the updating of therapies, for psychological counseling and to provide Ugandan women with information on HIV/AIDS.

WHERE ARE WE?
UGANDA
TO GET THERE is active in Uganda and South Sudan, each with a training and help project that is followed on the spot by the Comboni Sisters, as well as helping the requests that are forwarded to us by the Sisters, aids that are first studied and checked by our volunteers on site.
Well known is the situation of poverty, disease and HIV of the two countries, which is why together with the program team PE ATYE KENA of the Infectious Diseases Polyclinic of Gemelli in Rome, we have started a funding program for education and training projects. Through the education and empowerment of women on the issue of HIV transmission as well as help through poor credit, TO GET THERE brings hope and concrete help for a better future. In South Sudan, with the collaboration of the RAINBOW project, we help the food and school support of the young guests of the Comboni Samaritans structure. Help support TO GET THERE with a donation. We also need your help to carry out the projects and allow our children to dream of a better future.

THE WORK KIT
TO GET THERE sends aid not only for annual school expenses but also for the purchase of personal hygiene products in line with Covid19 prevention measures. The School Kit can help many young students.
The medical center usually sends us a list of medicines that we purchase. With The Health Kit we are able to guarantee emergency assistance and medical treatment for many pathologies.
We also provide The Work Kit, an aid for young graduates of the vocational school who can barely enter the world of work. Let’s make sure that these guys can buy essential tools to start a job and become independent.
HOW TO SUPPORT AND HELP to get there onlus
In Uganda, medical care is all paid for and for this reason many families living in conditions of extreme poverty, in case of illness of adults and children, cannot afford adequate treatment with easily imaginable consequences.
TO GET THERE will send economic aid quarterly with the exception of the most urgent cases that will require immediate operation
At the same time we are able to cover basic necessities as many families still live in thatched huts, subject to the elements, and do not have a home to raise their children.
Another big problem is the cost of school materials, which has increased recently. The increasingly widespread economic crisis in the country following the recent pandemic means that many children are forced to abandon their studies to go to work the land and thus contribute to family expenses.
TO GET THERE therefore offers the possibility of receiving help and support both for primary goods (home, food, medicine) and for school expenses.
“Every time I come back from a trip to Uganda I feel richer, truer. A wealth that everyone should try to touch to understand our fortunes that are now taken for granted. For them it is not so …”
